Arrival in South Africa

Our departure from Washington, D.C. was delayed a bit.  We waited on the plane for nearly three hours as the airspace was being cleared.  18 hours later after a brief stop in Dakar, Senegal, we arrived in Johannesburg, South Africa.  We spent a wonderful evening at the City Lodge near the airport in Johannesburg and are now awaiting our flight to Lilongwe, Malawi, where our real adventure begins.

I have been invited to serve as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Malawi, Africa for 27 months. I will spend the first three months as a Peace Corps Trainee, after which I will be training nurses and other health care personnel. I look forward to sharing my experience with all of those who are interested.

Be sure to take a look at the links found under the blogroll on the right hand side of the page.  This will help you understand a little more about Malawi.

Spent a great day at staging in Washington, D.C. yesterday.  I met a lot of great people who are beginning this journey with me.  I am so excited to be on my way to Malawi!  We leave this afternoon, stay one night in Johannesburg, South Africa and arrive in Malawi on Sunday.  Communication will be limited, so it may be awhile before you hear from me again….remember the old adage…”no news is good news”…Take Care and God Bless!! 🙂

(Be sure to take a look at my photos from D.C.!)
